The 2012 DTM season is approaching quickly and the three premium-car manufacturers involved, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, are working flat out on completing their preparations. The latest feature focuses on the topic: Who will succeed in securing one of the sought-after DTM cockpits? Please find the full feature including quotes of selected drivers exclusively at

VIDEO1360#DTM returnee BMW currently are ahead of their competitors when it comes to completing the driver line-up, with five of the six cockpits already being assigned. The three well-known BMW works drivers Augusto Farfus, Andy Priaulx and Joey Hand will be teamed up with two popular new BMW signings: Bruno Spengler and Martin Tomczyk. Following 11 years in the Audi camp, the reigning DTM champion was looking for a new challenge and switched to the Munich based manufacturer.

Mercedes-Benz has signed deals with just two drivers, to date: Ralf Schumacher, the idol of the public, is going to contest his fifth DTM season and for Gary Paffett, it will even be the ninth year on the grid of the most popular international touring-car series.

The Audi seniors, however, apparently don’t see a need to hurry. The reigning champions take their time and although having lost reigning champion Martin Tomczyk, no drivers have been officially signed, at this point in time. Nonetheless, it looks as if Timo Scheider – who is extremely popular with the DTM fans – as well as last year’s rising star, Eduardo Mortara, and two-time champion Mattias Ekström will keep on racing for Audi, in the coming DTM season. Having finished runner-up in 2011, the Swede wants to add a third DTM title to his trophy collection, this year.
