Susie Wolff to again race in DTM for Mercedes-Benz, in the 2012 season

Mercedes-Benz is going to once again rely on the services of experienced DTM driver Susie Wolff, in 2012. The fastest women in touring-car racing has been a DTM driver since 2006 and contested a total of 63 DTM races, in the past six years.

In 2012, Wolff will race the TV Spielfilm Mercedes AMG C-Coupé and is going to once again contest the season for Team Persson Motorsport she has been cooperating with since 2008. In her DTM debut, in the 2006 season opener at Hockenheim, Wolff gained respect right away by making it to the top 10.

By finishing seventh in the Lausitzring round of the 2010 season, the today 29-year old secured her first championship points and in the season finale of that year, at Hockenheim, she repeated this feat. In the end, the 2010 season proved to be the most successful one in her DTM career to date and with four points on her tally, she finished 13th in the championship.

Susie Wolff: “I’m truly proud of once again being a member of the Mercedes-Benz DTM family, in 2012. I have been racing for Mercedes-Benz since my DTM debut in 2006 and felt really comfortable with them right from the start. I’m extremely motivated and in the off-season, I prepared both physically and mentally for a hard-fought season. Due to the fact that all the drivers will be racing new cars, I expect the field to be more competitive and the racing to be closer than ever. With Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, the 2012 DTM grid will feature three premium-car manufacturers and consequently, we certainly are about to witness a thrilling and interesting season.”

Mercedes-Benz motorsport Director Norbert Haug: “Susie has set herself particularly ambitious goals for 2012 and is really keen on securing good results, this year. She often succeeded in thrilling me with her pace displayed in the races and there aren’t many DTM drivers and champions on the grid she hasn’t given a hard time with her fighting spirit, at times. Should she succeed in securing good grid positions and making excellent starts, with the latest generation of our DTM C-Class Coupé, Susie should be able to shine more than ever, this year. We all are looking forward to her seventh season as member of our driver line-up and I’m convinced that it won’t be the seven year itch, for her.”
