The BMW M4 DTM
When the Munich based manufacturer let the BMW M4 DTM contest is DTM debut season, in 2014, the new car had to follow in the footsteps of a highly successful car: its predecessor, the BMW M3 DTM, delivered right away when BMW made their DTM comeback in 2012. In the comeback season, it took it took the manufacturer and its drivers to the manufacturers’, team and drivers’ titles. And in its second season, it once again secured the manufacturers’ title while finishing second in the team and drivers’ championships. Some of the changes the BMW M4 DTM features compared to its successful predecessor are clearly visible, such as the long bonnet that’s tapered a lot towards the front and the aerodynamically optimised exterior mirrors. The twin headlights, the striking twin-fillet kidney and the power dome on the bonnet give the racing car its typical BMW look. And BMW driver Bruno Spengler was thrilled as early as after the first tests: “The front-axle feedback is extremely direct and the rear-axle grip phenomenal.” Early praise that was confirmed by the M4 right away. In 2014, it seamlessly tied in with the successes of its predecessor: Marco Wittmann secured the drivers’ championship at Oschersleben, with two more races to go, BMW Team RMG won the team title with a massive lead – and in 2015, the eight BMW M4 DTM vehicles secured the manufacturers’ title for BMW.
