DTM can look back on 30 years of enthralling motor-racing history. The first race of the ‘Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft’ (German Touring Car Championship), back in 1984, still was contested by close-to-production touring cars. In that year, Volker Strycek clinched the title without having won a single race. In the following years, DTM increased its internationality and its significance. Many of the drivers who left their marks on the series have become legends, today, such as Ellen Lohr, Klaus Ludwig, Keke Rosberg and Hans-Joachim Stuck. Bernd Schneider won the DTM title a total of five times and witnessed the changes in DTM from behind the wheel. The German secured his first DTM title in 1995 to add another four in 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2006 – a record that hasn’t been broken until today.
