Over 80,000 spectators per race weekend lining the circuits and millions of viewers in front of their TV sets: the DTM continues to boom, also in terms of international TV coverage. Fascinating high-tech touring cars, a proven race format and a tailor-made event programme – the concept of the DTM is positively reflected by spectator acceptance at the circuits as well as by TV audiences. 2007 saw 2,806 hours of DTM coverage, representing an increase of 649 hours over the previous year. The amount of live coverage aired was 598 hours versus 507 hours in 2006. The total number of DTM reports worldwide increased from approximately 6,000 to 7,836. In a total of 175 countries reports about the DTM were aired. 40 channels covered the DTM in 44 countries, either broadcasting the races in real time or airing full-length coverage later. This area has seen an increase as well: the eleven races of the 2008 DTM season are now broadcast live or at a later time in 51 countries. Within Europe the DTM can be watched in real time in all of the important core markets of the automobile industry such as Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Austria. In Brazil and USA as well as in the entire Arab and African region the DTM can be witnessed live on TV too. In 175 countries highlights and summary reports of the most popular international touring car series are aired.
