In 2016, 24 drivers will be battling to make their big dream come true: winning the DTM champion’s trophy. International top-level drivers will be staging entertaining duels in 18 races on a total of nine weekends. We want to introduce the contenders from BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz in detail and have asked each one of them 24 questions. In no particular order, the answers will be published over the next weeks as a part of our series ’24 drivers – 24 questions’. Now it’s the turn of the third Audi driver, Nico Müller. The Swiss scored a total of 21 points, thus finishing 21st in the drivers’ championship.

Describe your 2015 season by dint of six terms: Rollercoaster, heavyweights, hundredths of a second, two-in-one, nightshift

My nicest DTM moment in 2015: In the second race of the Spielberg meeting. In torrential rain I worked my way up from my 11th grid position to fifth place.

My worst/most disappointing DTM moment in 2015: Receiving a drive-through penalty for an unsafe release in the season finale at Hockenheim. I was on the way to finishing fifth or sixth what would have been a nice result to conclude the season with. And losing this success this way was really bitter.

My personal highlights of the year 2015 (both private and job-related): Most definitely winning the Nürburgring 24h race together with my three team-mates and Audi Sport Team WRT with the brand-new Audi R8 LMS.

That’s what annoyed me in particular (both in my private life and job-related): That my beloved Scott racing cycle was stolen at my place.

My favourite DTM colleague: I get on well with the most of them. If I had to pick one I’d arguably chose Adrien Tambay. After all, we could celebrate our birthday together. :-)

My most exciting/most thrilling 2015 DTM weekend: The Moscow weekend. The racing in DTM always is extremely close but there, it was closer than close. The gaps in the qualifying session were just incredible. A few hundredths of a second meant the difference between pole and eighth grid position.. I wasn’t the happiest of them all, having been 0.05 seconds slower than the pole-sitter and being fifth on the grid, but being part of the absolute front end of the field was extremely exciting, there. You had to be ultra focused.

The biggest surprise of the 2015 season, for me: There weren’t any major surprises, from my point of view.

This change / these changes I would love to see for the 2016 DTM season: A rule adjustment in the performance-weight area.

If I hadn’t become a motor racer I would have liked to be a …?: Professional mountain biker. l love this sport with its technical and personal aspects. To take both yourself and your equipment to the very limits is fascinating me.

That’s what I like particularly: The smell of a champagne soaked overall.

That’s what I don’t like at all: Unreliability

The motto of my life: Whatever you’re doing - give all you’ve got to give.

My goal for the 2016 DTM season: My first champagne soaked overall… several times please, if possible.

My favourite racetrack:  When it comes to the standard circuits and the modern ones, Spa and Zandvoort are my favourites. But nothing gives you an adrenaline kick as the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

 My role model/s: Marcel Fässler

My favourite sportsman/sportswoman: Valentino Rossi

My favourite song: Jung verdammt
