DTM aces to race in Macau
Off-season? Forget it! Following the DTM tests Audi and BMW executed at the beginning of the week at Estoril, Portugal, the next motor-racing highlight in connection with DTM will be held this weekend. The grid of the 64thMacau Grand Prix will feature several DTM drivers. After all, the FIA GT Works Cup also will be held within the framework of the Formula 3 World finale, contested at the notorious ‘Circuito Da Guia’, a 6.132-kilometre street circuit in the former Portuguese colony located at the Perl River delta.
Robin Frijns will contest the GT3 race for Audi. The BMW colours will be represented by Augusto Farfus and Edoardo Mortara will race a Mercedes-AMG GT3. The Italian who resides in Switzerland has got a very special relationship with the extraordinary racetrack. Altogether, he celebrated six race wins in Macau – more than any other European driver in the history of this event. He won the F3 race twice and took the chequered flag in the GT3 race as race winner four times – the last time to date in 2017.
For BMW works driver Joel Eriksson it’s back to the roots. At the end of his DTM debut season for BMW, the Swede returns into the Formula 3 cockpit to battle it out – inter alia – with Mick Schumacher, the 2018 FIA Formula 3 Champion who contested the majority of his races in the DTM support programme.
