The DTM at Autosport International
The DTM is returning to Brands Hatch this year. On 11 and 12 August, the Grand Prix circuit, the long version of the race track to the south-east of London with its long history, will be hosting two races. At the start of the new year, the popular touring car series is already making a lot of promotion.
At Autosport International in Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC), the three manufacturers are present with drivers and cars. From 11-14 January, the DTM is on site with its own stand. Autosport International ranks among Europe’s largest motorsport exhibitions. BMW and Mercedes-AMG each have a DTM car on display during the renowned international event.
From Thursday to Saturday, Gary Paffett (Mercedes-AMG), DTM novice Philipp Eng (BMW) and Jamie Green (Audi) will be available to answer questions from fans and journalists in this order. Local heroes Paffett and Green in particular are likely to get increased attention.
Both Paffett and Green know their way around Brands Hatch very well, at least at the 1.929 kilometres short Indy circuit. The Mercedes-AMG driver raced there and never finished lower than tenth, with only one exception in 2006. In 2012, Paffett won the DTM race at the British circuit with its long history. Audi driver Green participated in all the eight races held between 2006 and 2013. His best results were second place in 2006 and fourth position in 2008. DTM newcomer Philipp Eng is particularly excited: “This will be my first major appearance as a DTM driver. I am proud to be able to represent BMW and the DTM in Birmingham,” the BMW driver says.
The annual pre-season event in Birmingham covers all forms of motorsport from karting to Formula 1. The first two days are for trade visitors only while interested motorsport enthusiasts can get an overview of new products, services and race series on the final two days as well.
