Duval, Rockenfeller and Eng lose their grid positions

Audi drivers Loïc Duval and Mike Rockenfeller and BMW’s Philipp Eng lose their starting grid positions for the first race at Norisring

Three decisions by the stewards, all three of them hard to swallow for the drivers involved. As the Audi Sport Team Phoenix had worked on the two Audi RS 5 DTM in parc fermé conditions, Loïc Duval and Mike Rockenfeller were excluded from the result of first qualifying. They lose their respective third and eighth grid positions and will be starting from the back of the grid.

Philipp Eng was deemed guilty by the stewards for blocking Mike Rockenfeller and has to start from fifth instead of second place on the grid as a result. Bruno Spengler and René Rast will therefore start from the grid positions two and three and receive championship points: two for Spengler and one for Rast.

Note from the editor: In an earlier version of this article it was stated that Eng was keeping the two points for the second quickest lap time in qualifying. We have corrected this error.
