Expert tip: “Richie” Reichert counts on Mortara and Wehrlein
Peter “Richie” Reichert is the on-site voice of the DTM. Together with his colleague Oliver Sittler, he is working as the track commentator, among others, on every race weekend. The RTL reporter has been closely following the DTM action on and off-track for many years. Reichert’s view on Lucas Auer’s season tod ate, why he reckons that Mercedes-Benz has the best chances at the Red Bull Ring and who will win the two races – you can find out in the DTM expert tip for the Spielberg race weekend.
Lucas Auer in his home round: “Auer’s performance is indeed showing an upward trend. One can see that there is progress, he is gradually finding his way in the DTM. And, of course, having an Austrian in the field is important when we have a race weekend in this country. In fact, we even have two Austrians. After all, Timo Scheider is living in Austria and is considering the country as his chosen residence. So, the more Austrians, the merrier! Not only for the race at Spielberg.”
The track: “I reckon that Mercedes could do quite well here. We have seen it in first free practice. The track has exactly what Mercedes wants: no fast corners. Tight corners and long straights meander their way through the scenic hills of the Alps. Actually, that is Mercedes territory.”
Richie’s tip: “My initial tip would have been Pascal Wehrlein, no doubt about it. However, he was hardly able to drive on Friday afternoon. I simply don’t know. It could be an Audi, too. I would say: Edoardo Mortara wins on Saturday and Wehrlein wins on Sunday.”
