Fans and celebrities on the XXL starting grid
The DTM race weekend at Spielberg will stick in the in the memory of the DTM enthusiasts: three unforgettable days in Styria, packed with thrilling race action and a unique support programme. Those who succeeded in obtaining one of the small starting-grid ribbons on Saturday or Sunday had particularly shining eyes. After all, these ribbons meant that they were granted access to the XXL starting grid. The Austrian race meeting was the first in the history of the sport with the grid opened for the fans. Therefore, the starting grid was extended from 15 to 40 minutes. The unanimous opinion of the small and older fans: “This was a unique experience.” A fantastic atmosphere that will remain unforgettable for everybody.
The DTM meeting at the Red Bull Ring also was attended by numerous celebrities. ‘Alpen-Elvis’ Andreas Gabalier presented René Rast on Sunday on the podium with his winner’s trophy. Meanwhile, Austrian Josh entertained the fans in the paddock with a 30-minute concert on the show stage. The musician from Vienna first of all gained popularity with his hit single ‘Cordula Grün’. In addition, Styria’s governor, Hermann Schützenhöfer, as well as alpine skiing aces Renate Götschl (Austria) and German Thomas Dreßen who won this year’s notorious downhill race on the ‘Streif’ also were on site. Götschl, overall World Cup winner and three-time World Champion, was born not far from the circuit, at Judenburg.
