FK Performance joins busy DTM Trophy grid for 2020

Bremen-based motorsport squad FK Performance has confirmed that it will field two BMW M4 cars in this year’s all-new DTM Trophy.

FK Performance is the second operation to announce its decision to race BMWs in the series, joining Walkenhorst Motorsport, which will also run a two-car squad. It will announce its driver line-up and official sponsors within the next week.

FK Performance team principal Martin Kaemena said:

“It made perfect sense to expand our 2020 programme to incorporate the DTM Trophy. It may be a new series but it has exactly the right credentials for us: great track-time for drivers, high-profile races with plenty of access and visibility for the public, and a status alongside the DTM at some of the best circuits in Europe. We’re really pleased to be part of it.”

Frederic Elsner, ITR Director Event, said:

“More and more teams have realised what a fantastic opportunity it is to race under the DTM banner in the DTM Trophy, and we’re absolutely delighted to have FK Performance onboard. We’re building up a seriously impressive roster of competitors for our maiden season, and we’re really looking forward to kicking things off at Zolder next month.”

High-profile start-times

The DTM Trophy will receive high-profile billing across its six weekends in 2020. With a confirmed start-time of 1515CET for every race (except Saturday’s Norisring event), the series will immediately follow the headlining DTM event, earning it high visibility on the busy DTM race weekend programme.

Significant prize fund on offer – PLUS free fuel and tyre supply

Registration deadline is 11 March 2020, with an enrolment fee of €23,000 plus VAT per participant – with tyres by series partner Hankook and fuel free of charge at all official events. Series organisers will distribute a prize fund of €150,000 between the top three drivers in the championship. The winner of the Trophy’s junior classification – for drivers under the age of 22 – will also earn a money-can’t-buy opportunity to test a DTM car at the end of the 2020 season.

The DTM Trophy kicks off at Zolder, Belgium (April 24-26), and concludes at Germany’s Hockenheimring (October 2-4). Click here for more information on the DTM Trophy: https://www.dtm.com/en/dtm-trophy
