Jack of all trades Auer wins
Last weekend, Lucas Auer, DTM driver and jack of all trades, made a very successful guest appearance in the ADAC GT Masters race weekend at the Nürburgring. Following his F1 tests for Team force India, ‘Luggi’ now raced for BWT Mücke Motorsport. Together with Sebastian Asch, the Austrian won the Saturday round with the team’s Mercedes AMG GT3. “Incredible, it’s my only second ADAC GT Masters weekend and we already made it to the top step,” beamed Auer, “I had a lot of fun.” On Sunday, however, the pairing had to settle for fishing 13th.
Meanwhile, Mattias Ekström had to cope with a dose of bad luck, in the eighth FIA World Rallycross Championship meeting at Trois-Rivières, Canada. In the semi finals of the event, the DTM championship leader had to retire with his Audi S1 EKS RX on the penultimate lap due to clutch problems. Nonetheless, the Swede defended his third position in the championship standings. He qualified as third-fastest for the round of the final 12 and started into the semi finals from the first row. “Up to the semi finals it was a good weekend,” the Swede said afterwards.
