Max Verstappen to attend the DTM weekend at Zandvoort
Enthralling touring-car racing in his home country – an event the Dutch Formula One ace Max Verstappen definitely doesn’t want to miss. From 18th to 20th August, DTM will make its stop at the Dutch North-Sea coast. And on Sunday, Verstappen also will be on site. “I am delighted with witnessing another DTM race,” reveals the Red Bull Racing star. “DTM at Zandvoort certainly will prove to be an outstanding spectacle.”
For the 19-year old Dutchman, the DTM paddock is anything but virgin soil. In 2014, when he contested the FIA Formula 3 European Championship season, he regularly raced in the DTM support programme. And after just one year in the Formula One feeder series he made it to Formula One – at the age of just 17, thus becoming the youngest GP driver of all times. Verstappen: “At the same time, it’s also nice to witness the Formula 3 race action at close range. It’s a series I still am following.”
Verstappen’s schedule for the Sunday of the Zandvoort meeting is tight: during the starting-grid presentation, the son of the Dutch Formula One idol Jos ‘The Boss’ Verstappen will be interviewed and the Q&A can be watched and listened to via the video walls and the circuit speaker system. Then he will drive in an open convertible around the dune circuit to afterwards present himself to the crowds. On the grid he will visit his fellow Red Bull drivers Mattias Ekström (Audi) and Marco Wittmann (BMW) and as icing on the cake, he will present the winner’s trophy on the podium.
