Paffett: Winner of DTM’s first race in Hockenheim

Successful season opening for Gary Paffett: At the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg, the British wins DTM’s first race of 2004 in an AMG-Mercedes C-Klasse and overtook his brand colleague Christijan Albers. With that, Paffett, driving his debut race in a new factory car, also made his first DTM win. Third in the race, which went 37 laps, was Mattias Ekström in an Audi A4 DTM. For his magnificent catch-up, Dumbreck (in an Opel Vectra GTS V8) was rewarded with a sixth place, which made him Opel’s most successful driver. After a gearbox damage at the qualifying, Dumbreck had had to start from the most backward start position.
