Quite a lump: The DTM Champion’s trophy
15th October at the Hockenheimring, 16:35hrs: an unforgettable moment not only for René Rast, the new DTM Champion. The German was extremely proud when raising the huge champion’s trophy in the air at the end of his rookie season. And Erik Ulbricht, 22-year old designer from Hannover, was just as proud – after all, he was the one who designed the DTM trophy for the 2017 season.
Ulbricht participated in the big DTM-trophy design contest held in the middle of the year. With his stylish 3D design he convinced not only the DTM drivers who had a look at six of the more 100 submissions and selected the three finalists. In the end, Ulbricht’s design also convinced the fans who chose his design as winner.
Afterwards, the trophy was constructed and produced in an elaborate process. And then, at Hockenheim, the time finally had come, with Ulbricht being live on site when the winners were presented with their 15kg trophies!
